*the astronaut breathing was done by Stanley Kubrick himself, wearing one of the prop helmets.
*a scene of Bowman jogging was also filmed but ultimately cut, as if the scene of Poole jogging wasn't enough.
*Keir Dullea and Douglas Rain never met during filming.
Some book I read some time ago put forth the erroneous notion that the leopard attack was filmed in such a way that the actor playing the leopard's victim and the leopard were never on set at the same time; that is, leopard and ape were filmed separately and then composited in post. As it turns out, no, the leopard was in fact pouncing on its trainer (kitted out as a prehistoric australopithecine) while Moonwatcher fled. Some additional background apes were added in post, but still.
